Default Using PS/2 KB & Mouse on a Single PS/2 Port

This is my first ever post, so I sure hope I don't break any rules.

I just finished a new build around the GA-970A-D3P and Phenom II 975 X4. The new box is sharing its Monitor(s), Keyboard and Mouse with 4 other boxes through a rather dated but extremely reliable KVM that only has PS/2 Ports. The GA-970A-D3P has only one PS/2 port. When I tried to use a good quality PS/2 slpitter, the (not UEFI) BIOS would not recognize either PS/2 device. The boot would finish, but there was no control. As a work around, I am currently running the KB through the PS/2 port and a separate USB mouse, but having to switch mouses every time I come back to this Box is a pain. Does anyone know of a PS/2 splitter that will work with this MB - OR - of a better solution of some kind?

I appreciate any support that you might be able to provide.

    Welcome to the forum.

Maybe a PS/2 to usb adapter will work for you. usb & ps/2 adapters: Electronics

Newegg and/or local computer shops should also have adapters.

Default No PS/2 Mouse Recognized in BIOS (was: Using PS/2 KB & Mouse on a Single PS/2 Port)

    Thanks ProfJim,
I have been doing a lot of experimentation trying to get any PS/2 mouse to work with this MB. Seems the BIOS will only recognize a mouse of USB type only and only connected diirectly to the MB. It will recognize a PS/2 Keyboard connected directly to the PS/2 Port OR to a PS/2-USB adapter, but NOT any PS/2 Mouse. Even if I try the exact same USB mouse (that WAS connected directly), through the KVM (with any type of adapter - tried several different ones), the BIOS will not recognize it and of course then Win7 will not recognize it either. These are standard Logitech mice, one is wired, the other wireless, makes no difference. I have tried every combination of related USB settings in the BIOS I could think of, with no success. Apparently, even though I am SUPPOSED to be able to run a PS/2 mouse on this MB, it will not do it.

Anybody got any ideas what might be the problem here? I am out of ideas.
    Thanks guys!
