    Luke, check out your linked to screen-shots below that were successful at 3.80GHz.

    Note MemSet's secondary timings for Write to Precharge Delayed through Read to Precharge (tRTP) and also look at your MIT settings for DRAM Voltage and MCH Core.

    Also note my previous screen-shot showing how some of the MemSet timings changed with higher memory speeds and also changes with different DRAM Performance Enhance settings.

    Here is another option; with FSB = 400 or higher you can use the 400MHz D-memory strap/multiplier.
    Some have found that that it's sometimes easier to get their systems stable when using the D-memory strap instead of the B-memory strap. Up to about 470MHz FSB, tRD might need to be set 1 click higher.

    With your 406MHz FSB, you can try 2.00D x 406 = 812MHz, or 2.66D x 406 = 1080MHz.

    Keep in mind that with my cpu multiplier = 8.5 X, at 3.82GHz my FSB is 450MHz; about 11% higher than your 406MHz FSB.

    I'm not 100% sure what I'm looking for in the previous screenshots but I'm thinking that my test settings have strayed quite drastically from what was stable just a few MHz previously and maybe you're wanting me to go back to my 3.80GHz settings and try tweaking them for 3.85GHz?

    Sorry if that's not right! I gave it a go anyways but it failed after 8 minutes...

    Have you tried doing a 2 x 2GB, two memory module test yet?

    I really hope that you followed my earlier suggestion and saved your stable 9.5 x 402 bios settings as a saved profile.

    Looking at the 402 and 406MHz screen-shots, the only manual voltage change that I see is with Cpu Vcore, 1.39375 vs 1.40000.

    There are 3 differences in Memset's "Others Timings":
    1. Write to Precharge Delayed (16 vs 15)
    2. Read to Write Delay (9 vs 8)
    3. Refresh Period (tREF) (3764 vs 3166)

    Normally I expect to see longer refresh periods with faster memory speeds.

    When you first tested with the slightly higher 406 FSB, did you automatically increase Cpu Vcore 1 click to 1.40000 volts before starting?

    9.5 x 406 = 3.857GHz
    9.5 x 402 = 3.819GHz

    This is only a 38MHz difference!!

    Load your stable 3.819GHz bios profile, increase the FSB by 6 so that you're using 9.5 x 408 = 3.876GHz and let it rip.
    You might want to try setting Cpu Vcore = AUTO and see what the bios sets based on your other settings.

    You really should try 3.876GHz using only two memory modules for some brief Prime95 tests.

    I haven't yet tried a 2x2GB test but I will try that now.

    I have all my stable profiles saved :) and save all my test profiles before testing.

    I'm getting confused now as I haven't saved my test settings in an orderly way that I can look through but for that last test I loaded my saved stable 3.8 settings and made a few changes...

    I will follow your instructions and post results later on, about to meet up with an old friend so will be a couple of hours.

    When I test with 2x2GB of RAM do I leave the sticks in slots #1 and #3?

    Time to switch the RAM back around?

    I'll set vcore to Auto and see if that helps. Getting late so I'll try with 2 sticks of RAM tomorrow after work

    Yes it's best to use memory slots 1 and 3 when you're running wiith only two memory modules.

    I use a pre-printed copy of an "optimized" bios template form where I write in the bios settings that I set manually for each test.
    My printed bios form has my preferred settings already filled in that never change.

    Once windows has booted, I create my not so famous system screen-shot with HWiNFO, Cpu-Z, MemSet, and EasyTune6.
    Next I copy the MemSet and ET6 settings in the bios template form that are used.

    After my system has been idle at the desktop for 15 minutes, I then run the MaxxMem2 memory benchmark followed by 3 loops of LinX using 5120MB of available memory. I then add the test result windows to my newly created screen-shot.

    I write the test date and time, cpu speed and memory speed at the top of bios template form.
    All notes and results are added to the bios template form.

    I keep the filled out template notes and a copy of the completed screenshot together.

    I find it much easier to view the hard copy screen-shot when analyzing or comparing different tests.



    It all boils down to what system works best for you to save, organize and view your overclocking results.

    Oh, did I mention that I like to have hard copies of my test results?

    Normally the ram kit positions shouldn't make a difference, but only if there aren't any defects with the memory modules and memory slots.

    I suggest that your first run your proven 402MHz FSB profile for 15 minutes as a sanity check.

    I'm toying with the idea of flashing my bios back to the F10 version to see if helps with stability, it's just a thought for now.

    I'm about to remove the RAM from slots #2 and #4 and reload my stable 3.80GHz settings, changing only the FSB to run at 407MHz. I hope it'll be alright with the MCH voltages etc!
