Honestly I don't know, wazza. It always seemed like such a pita in the past, but maybe now with the new boards I'll give it another shot. When the new cpu's come out I want to put this one back on the Z87 board -it has a little better voltage control- then I'll try to push it a little more.

Sin posted this guide over at Anandtech and they took out all his links as "spam". lol. Which figures....some of the worst overclocking advice I've ever seen comes from a few good citizens over there.

Thumbs up Re: The GIGABYTE Z97X Overclocking Guide

Sin0822: I just wanted to say thank you for a very nice guide. I just got this board to replace my old z87 from Asus and i must say im very pleased with it!
With the z87 from asus my 4770k wouldnt do over 4.5ghz no matter if i had the vcore on 1.370v, with this board i got my 4770k running at 4.7ghz with vcore at 1.327v (and the changes you wrote in your first post in bios)

I just placed an order for the 4790k hopeing to break 5ghz, im using a "Corsair h100i" as my cpu cooler and it seems to do the job. Atm with 1.327v the cpu maxes out at around 81c (while playing watch dogs it maxes around 62c tho).

Just wanted to ask you, 1.327v do you think its okay for 24/7 use or should i try to stay under 1.3v ?

Anyhow thank you for a very nice guide, it helped me alot!
    Cheers!

I think Sin is still at Computex so I don't know if you'll get an answer soon. Maybe he'll check in......

My opinion is that 1.372v is OK for 24/7 on some cpu's......I was running my 4770K at 4.8 24/7 for a while at less voltage but it started nagging at me and I eventually went down to 4.5 at 1.245v, lol. I guess I'm just used to running my cpu's at 4.5......plus I couldn't see any real benefit for myself.

I was able to get down to 1.23v at 4.5, except I had problems with sleep. Bumping up just a little to 1.235v vid and sleep works right again. This has been a strange board for sleep, or at least this cpu on this board compared to my Z87 board.

Amazon and Newegg are still saying the 25th, wazza. Who knows? I don't think anyone knows for sure. You would think Intel would release some information as well. Well, you wouldn't but still.
