Smile Refresh Build - Z97x SOC Force

Doing a refresh build as my motherboard seems to have died

Link to Forum Topic - http://forums.tweaktown.com/gigabyte...-ish-beep.html

    Gigabyte Z97X SOC Force
    Corsair Vengeance Pro - 2x8GB 1866Mhz 9-10-9-27

Planning to retain other components for now, will be switching GPU in a few months or so, probably new SSD and a maybe a PSU - one of the DPS ones from TT.

Looks like I've hit an issue !
I've installed the system on a bench (not in the case). Connected only the DVD and SSD.
System boots into BIOS just ok and also boots to DVD and starts windows 7 install. After it's loaded files (approx 10-15 seconds), (Edit:) then shows "Starting windows" and then it just reboots.
The Debug code I see on the board is AE during the boot and just before restart it goes to A0 and reboots...

Edit: Loaded latest BIOS from Gigabyte site.
    Any ideas ?

I second what wazza said about temporarily moving the drive to another sata port. Disconnect all other drives except the one you are installing Windows to.

    Thanks for the quick response.
Is there anyway to resolve the SSD issue ?
I don't have a spare usable SATA HDD at the moment.

    Update: I borrowed a friend's Laptop SATA HDD. It's a hitachi 7200rpm 320Gb HDD.
This time, windows boots from the DVD, shows the Start installation screen. After selecting the region and keyboard when I click start install, it reboots.

Weird. I would load the latest non-beta BIOS, then load optimized defaults and setup whatever needs doing in the BIOS and try again. FWIW I would try with the SSD first unless you know there's a problem or conflict with it.

I've had Windows install then reboot and not find the disc it was installed to, but I've never had a Windows install not make it through unpacking all the files, etc.

I've disabled XMP and RAM is currently at 1333Mhz 9-9-9-24 1.5v.
Memtest report looks ok. CPU is also down clocked to 2.8Ghz as an added measure

Thanks Wazza, I did some research and this might be a SF issue which I'll investigate later. In order to remove this as a factor from my build, I've currently removed the device and will try installs on the normal HDD. I'll later experiment with the SSD or replace it.

I've tried a different SATA port with the SATA HDD and the result alternates between reboot during "starting windows" and reboot after clicking "Install".
