Question GA-Z87-HD3 - best BIOS for stable OC

    Hi All,
    I run 4670K delidded on GA-Z87-HD3 and OC'ed to 4.5GHz.

The main problem is: unstable OC when CPU multiplier changed (TB set to off according to this guide - see Turbo Mode table part).

    The following BIOS version tested:
F7 a/b - CPU clock unstable, OC'ed via TB. When OC'ed with CPU multiplier system unstable (BSOD 101/124).
F7c - stable OC with CPU multiplier.
F7d - unable to OC at all.
    F7 (official) - behaves like F7d.
F8a/b/c - stable OC with TB, unstable OC when CPU multiplier changed (BSOD 101/124).

Can someone confirm/verify this issue or my hands.dll should be patched asap?

Leave the turbo's on auto and change the mulitplier. If you BSOD with a 101 or 124 then most likely cause is the vcore is too low. Also set the LLC to extreme, that will keep the Vccin from drooping.
Depending on how high you go on vcore, you may have to increase Vccin up from the stock 1.8v. With my Z87 & Z97 Gigabyte boards I usually have to keep the Vccin around .5 - .6 or more above vcore.

For your OC list these settings:
    Vccin:
    Vcore:
    multi:
    uncore multi:
    Vring:

    Here we go:
    BIOS F8c - latest beta.
    Vccin: 1.92
    Vcore:1.32
multi: X45(unstable), Auto for stable OC.
TB: Auto - unstable, X45 for all the cores for stable OC.
    uncore multi:38
    Vring:1.050

The weird part: any change of CPU multi leads to unstable CPU frequency (jumps between 2.3~4.2) under prime95.
When only TB fixed for all cores on 45 (CPU multi still @Auto) - stable OC.....

P.S: i'd better stay with current OC using TB - no issues so far.
Just wandering if this is my only issue or something else(BIOS related bug, incorrect voltage, /etc).

You'll probably just have to increase vcore - and maybe Vccin - until you're stable. How are your temps?

Temps is up to 75C/prime95 (air cooled).
I'll play more with fixed CPU multi and Vccin/Vcore later today and will post the results.

    Thanks
