Default X79-UD3 - GPU problem (most of GPUs doesn't work on this MOBO)

    Hi there

The problem is Gigabyte X79-UD3 doesn't work with most of these GPU's. It only works with HD 4850 & GT 9500.
With GTX 770 / GTX 750 Ti / HD 7770 this computer doesn't even boot up - there is no signal, screen stays black and there are no any POST beeps.
With GT 630 / GT 220 it boots up but gets frozen when new device <GPU> and Nvidia GPU drivers are fully loaded (without Nvidia drivers it runs okey, but ... no 3D etc available at all).

Here's what I have already tried:
    - connecting card to other PCI-e slot (got 4 of them),
    - using DVI -> VGA adapter,
    - installing newer/older/original Nvidia drivers (# GT 630 / GT 220 - cause they boot up),
    - switching PCI-e GEN to 1 / 2 / 3 in BIOS,
    - installing F16 / F18 / F20 / F21c(newest, beta) using @BIOS software,
    - installing other CPU (XEON E5 engineering sample as well),
    - using other monitor/display/wires,
    - and few more.

Unfortunately nothing has helped so far.

What can be reason of this? How can I solve it? Would appreciate your help.

    Machine specs:
    MOBO - GIGABYTE X79-UD3 MOBO [LGA2011]
Processor - Intel Xeon E5 2665 (ES - engineering sample)
    RAM - 2x8GB Crucial Ballisticks Sport 1600/9 & 2x8GB Crucial Ballisticks Sport XT 1600/9
    GPU - GTX 750 Ti / GTX 770 / GT 630 / GT 220 / 9500 GT / HD 7770
PSU - BeQuiet! Straight Power 480W with Gold+ Certificate
    OS Win7 Ultimate 64 bit

Is there any chance you have another PSU to check? I doubt its the board, with that many different GPUs, its likely something power related. Your PSU only has one 6 pin PCIe connection. The GPUs that don't work require two. Just a thought.

Can it be 400W no name PSU? It's "TakeMe" or smth like that? I got it in my 2nd PC. It will be 7 years soon since I bought it. Or it's rather risky to try it with these components?

GTX 770 needed two x6 (or even x8, not sure now) power supplies so I just used 1x8 to 2x6(8) wire.

Another thing is that GTX 750 Ti doesn't require any additional power supply (not MSI version at least) - its TDP is @70W level. And HD 7770 requires 1x6 (or 8).
Additionally, this PSU has 2x6(8) pin PCIe connections (not sure if I understood you here):

Yea, I've tried F16/F20 (official ones) and few hours ago I installed F17 / F18 / F21c - no difference, with GT 630 screen just freezes after Nvidia drivers load up.

are you fully uninstalling the amd drivers before you try the NVidia cards?

google and use display driver uninstaller

Right now? Nope, there are AMD drivers installed at the time next to Nvidia drivers. But it was brand new SSD so on the first attemp there were only Nvidia drivers and it was the same :(

    Are you over clocking?

Here is a generic break down...

    W/ these components...

    -your mobo

    -your CPU(AT STOCK CLOCKS)

    -a 760(roughly the same as a 750ti)

    -an SSD

    -a standard platter drive

    -4 sticks ddr3

    -a few case fans

    -a mouse

    -a keyboard

At load, draws about 420 watts. Also, the third and fourth rails, of your PSU, are shared between the CPU and GPU, with a combined output of only 36amps.

So, again, are you overclocking, anything?

One more thing, unless I missed something, according to the CPU support list for your mobo, the e5-2665 isn't supported...

CPU stays w/0 any OC - at stock clocks. With GTX 760 compared to GTX 750Ti u are way wrong imo, because it's not the same like it was with GTX 650Ti~GTX660. GTX 750Ti is one of the best eco cards at the moment - it only needs 105-115W under 100% load (and its TDP is 75W if I'm right). I got no standard platter drive, I got no keybord yet because I spent all my money on that machine. My mouse uses batteries :)
When this computer works with 70-100% CPU usage, 30GB RAM(not sure if this one matters at all) and around 60% GPU load its real power consumption is the most probably around 200-240W (with GT 630 / GTX 750 Ti GPUs).

I don't negate advice it may be power problem but I would say it's more likely smth on MOBO is broken (ofc I'm not sure of it), I just think this PSU is way good enough for these compontents.
