Default Please help, motherboard BIOS update and processor problem

A few weeks back I bought a new processor(AMD FX 8350). I have limited experience with these sort of things so I waited for my brother to be back in town before the replacement. The replacement of the parts went fine, but when we started the PC there was no picture on the monitor. I proceeded to check all the connections and everything checked out fine. My brother mentioned that the computer failed to post. I had no idea what this meant, but my understanding is that on each boot up the computer does a series of internal checks prior to start up and then follows with a beep upon completion. So we did some research and found that I may need to update my bios. I am using the Gigabyte GA-870A-USB3 motherboard and my current BIOS version/Date is Award Software Internation Inc., F4, 3/9/2011. We attempted to update my bios to F5g from this link GIGABYTE - Motherboard - Socket AM3+ - GA-870A-USB3 (rev. 3.1), but upon running the FLASHPI.EXE I get an error message that states the version of the file is incompatible with the version of Windows I am running (x86 or x64). I am running a 64 bit system and i don't see anywhere to choose for either a x86 or x64 version for download. I have since re-installed my previous processor until I can get this figured out. If anyone has any experience with updating BIOS or similar situations, any and all ideas or suggestions are appreciated.

Make absolutely sure the BIOS file is for your motherboard model and revision. Copy that file to a USB thumb drive formatted in FAT32 file system. Plug that drive into a USB port and restart the PC, enter the BIOS setup utility during reboot, and you will see the option to use the BIOS update utility from the BIOS screen. Direct the utility to the USB thumbdrive and as always during a BIOS update, cross your fingers/pray/sacrafice a goat, etc....
