Question Gigabyty strange start-up behavior, please help! (video inside)

    Hi all,

My Gigabyte G1 Sniper Z97 MB has a very strange boot-up behavior.

    Here is the spec:
    - i7 4790K @ Stock
    - Noctua U14s + Dual NF-A15
    - 16GB (8*2) Corsair Vengeance
    - Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 Gaming
    - 5 Sata Disk Drives (1SSD and 4HDD)
    - 1 Sata DVD
    - Corsair TX850 PSU

The issue can be described as follows:
    - Every time that I cold boot the machine (starting it from a powered down/off state), the machine works properly and I can get into windows fine, but I can't see any post screen. It's like the machine works in the background but nothing is shown on the screen.
    - Once I get into windows, if I restart the machine it posts fine and I can see the screen fine during post. I will not run into this issue again, so long as I do not power-cycle the machine. If I turn it off and then/on again... boom! Blank screen.

I also include a video to better show you how it's like.
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BvYB2GetvqE

    Here are things I checked:
    1. No Temp issue... my heatsink does its job wonderfully.
    2. CPU/Case Fan failure warning is disabled.
    3. NO Fast Boot / Ultra Fast Boot, etc is enabled.
    4. My VGA is plugged in and powered properly.
    5. All two ATX Power cables are plugged in properly and securely (to the MB).
    6. I have two 27" screens and I turn both screens on to see if the any of them display anything during post (but none).
    7. Boot with all USB cables removed.

Please note that this may not be a serious issue but it really bugs me, as it shouldn't happen and I really want to fix it. FYI, my computer works fine with no slowdown/error/BSOD or anything. It's just that first bit that bugs me.

    Any comment would be appreciated!

----Please ignore my spec in my sig. It was added age ago and I will have to update it----

Have you tried to change Initial Display Output settings?

    Thanks for the suggestion.

The integrated graphic was disabled (from the start), and in the BIOS, the first video device was set to my discrete graphic card.

I also tried resetting BIOS to default, but no dice.

Many things possible but I would go for a vBIOS update first.
    Assuming it is GV-N970G1 GAMING-4GD:
*Be sure to pick the right one!!!!*
GIGABYTE - Graphics Card - NVIDIA - PCI Express Solution - GeForce 900 Series

    Install the latest GEFORCE driver.

    Second:

Do you have Win 8 or 8.1? (not mentioned in your specs but it seems to be Win 7 according to your video)
If yes, is it installed in legacy or UEFI?
Is CSM support enable (legacy or UEFI mode possible) or disable (UEFI mode only)?
Win 7 needs CSM support enable.
Disable and remove secure boot keys.

Please come back if the above do not work.
    Regards

    Thank you for your help.

    Install the latest GEFORCE driver.

The driver is already up to date (but the problem persists).

To test this issue, I tried unplugging all sata cables and cold-booting the machine... and boom! blank screen. FYI, since I didn't have any drive connected, it didn't go anywhere (stuck at "cannot load os, etc" screen). The system didn't lock up but I could not see anything on the screen. I knew it didn't lock up as when I pressed "numlock" or "scroll lock' on the KB, the numlock and scroll lock lights lit up accordingly.

If I restarted by pressing Ctrl+Alt+Del or pressing the restart button, it came back fine (I could see the screen from post).

    I wrote

"Many things possible but I would go for a vBIOS update first."

Did you update your video bios (vBIOS)?
    If no, take GPU-Z
determine your vBIOS revision and video memory brand.
Pick the right one according to your vBIOS revision!!!!
*READ CAREFULLY ALL THE PAGE* (especially the red lines):
    GIGABYTE - Graphics Card - NVIDIA - PCI Express Solution - GeForce 900 Series - GV-N970G1 GAMING-4GD (rev. 1.0/1.1)

    After vBIOS update:
    - unplug-replug monitor. Both: monitor power line and, cable between your computer and monitor (DP, DVI,HDMI?)
    - reset motherboard CMOS
    - Load motherboard BIOS optimized settings
    - Enable CSM Support
    - Disable secure boot
    - Save, Reboot
    - Re-insall geforce drivers ( again yes and latest)

Good luck and please come back if no resolution
(please specify motherboard BIOS settings especially the CSM support and secure boot page, many thanx)
    regards

Oops sorry, I misread your post about flashing the VGA's bios and thought "driver" instead.

Haven't tried flashing the VGA bios as I think it's quite a scary thing to do LOL.

Anyway, will try everything you suggested and will comeback with some result.

    Yeah,
The red face, fast heartbeat, sweating a lot, hands shaking during vBios update is pretty standard.
    Kidding (mmm no so much)
Use you OC- Guru software. It seems to automatically locate new vBIOS. Or you can use VGA Tools - @bios with the right vBios.
vBIOS flashing (specially for high priced cards) is always risky but you have 2 vBIOS on your card (DualBios technology) so you should be OK in case of a bad flash.
You can always fall back also on your iGPU and flash your main card from there.
The worst that can happen is that you will learn how to do a vbios blind flash.
    Pretty thrilling
