    Default Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD5 + GTX 550 Ti

    Hi,

I have the Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD5 (ver 1.0)with an old Geforce 8400.

I tried to put a GTX 550 Ti from another PC and it worked until I upgraded the bios firmwere.

now it does'nt even recognize it.

the GTX 550 Ti works on my other PC and I can't find any setting in the bios menu to fix the problem...

    TNX for helping!

I used the @bios to download ver. F14 and now my boot sequence doesn't work. It skips the cd and right to the HD. i don't know if the usb works. I replaced the hd for a bigger one and the system will not boot off cd. I think something wrong with ver. F14 and I'm going to try to go back to the old ver.
I did contact Gigabite by email, we'll see what they say.

OK so After trying everything I know, I apllied the BIOS fail-safe settings and some how it works.

now, I can only use the HDMI output since the VGA output shows a very very dark screen (Very confusing stuff!!!)

Double check the video cable connections at both ends.

Look closely at both ends of the cable and see if any of the VGA pins are bent, broken or missing. If it's an old VGA cable there might be a broken wire inside the cable.

Do you have another VGA cable that you can test with?

Have you tried adjusting some of the monitor's OSD (on screen display) settings?

It might be worthwhile to unplug the power supply's A.C. power cord from the wall outlet and then remove the video card and inspect the pci-e slot for dust or dirt. Make sure that there aren't any damaged connectors in the pci-e slot or on your video card.

The cable is OK. it works on the 8400 I had before. and the card works fine when connected to other PC. I guess there is a problem with the motherboard...
    can't find another explanation...

Clearing your CMOS might solve the problem.

    1. Save your normal bios settings to a saved bios profile in your bios.
    2. Unplug your power supply's A.C. power cord from the wall outlet or from the back of the power supply.
    3. Remove the motherboard's battery and use an accurate volt meter to make sure that the battery is still good. Ideally your battery will have at least 3.1 volts.
    4. Place a jumper block on both of the CLR_CMOS pins on the motherboard and leave your system like this for 10 - 20 minutes.
    5. Remove the jumper block from the CLR_CMOS pins and reinstall the motherboard battery.
    6. Reconnect the power supply's A.C. power cord and boot into the bios to reload your saved bios profile.
    7. Save settings, exit the bios and see if it's better.

note: sometimes clearing the cmos for 5 - 10 seconds works, but I've also seen cases where clearing the CMOS took 12 - 24 hours to correct some problems!
