Setting up a brand new box:

    Epox 8rda+
    barton 2500+
    2 corsair 256 xms3500
    ati radeon 8500

Boots up fine first time around; I noticed Tornado 7+ wasn't spinning so I shut down and hook it up correctly. I boot back up and it posts fine, but tells me something about being in a safemode. So I go into bios and set everything to "optimized settings". PC reboots, posts, then crashes to a black screen. So I shut down and start back up and it will not post. Post code on mobo is FF.

I have tried reseating my CPU/HSF, resetting CMOS several times, pulling 1 stick of memory, and even changing the jumper to 100mhz fsb.

    Not sure what to do.

    Yeah:

    1. BIOS chip inserted incorrectly
    2. Incorrect BIOS update version
    3. Mainboard problem
    4. Add-on card inserted incorrectly

Forget to mention I have tried reseating my video card several times. It is the only card in the system.

Ok if the 8RDA+ is old stock then it will need a BIOS update for a Barton CPU plus I've never used an R8500 in one of these.

How can I do a Bios update if the machine is not posting?

I can't even get it to load holding down the insert key.

l, you could see if a friends got an old Athlon/Duron, or uy one used for bout $20US.A few months ago a tech here i know had someone bring in a mobo tha didnt support there cpu, and the bios needed flashed. So he called they're tech support, and they sent him an Socket A Athlon 800mhzbut told him to destroy it when he was done with it. That MIGHT work for you

It was an Abit mobo, so he called them

EDIT: But dont get your hopes up for that to work, it was sort of because the company they bought it from guarenteed it would work straifght off, and they were Authorized Abit resellers.

For a small fee most local PC shops (not the chain stores though) will do it for ya (check ya BIOS version against EPoX's website).
