Odd problem here, cant seem to figure out whats going on....

    1st pff, system specs:

    msi k7n2 delta
    amd athlon 1700+
Buffalo Tech pc3200 256*2 (dual channel)
    fx 5200

so anyway, I just put in the mobo and ram into my existing system. finally get everything running properly, so I figure its time to overclock the cpu. so I go into bios and try boosting the multiplier, originally tried 12.5 I believe, and boosted the voltage to 1.75

fsb I cant remember what it was...maybe 200?

anyways, I save and exit bios, and it starts booting up, but when it gets to the desktop I lose the picture

I reboot and nothing, tried another video card and had the same effect. Finally I decide to set the jumper for the fsb to 100MHz (safe mode) This will let me boot up with picture, the other setting will not. So now my cpu is runnign at 1.1GHz, and for the life of me I cant figure out how to get the fsb back to what it should be

btw, I also reset bios before I changed the fsb jumper...had no effect

thanks in advance for any advice...

You might want to check to see if you have the option of locking the AGP bus in at a specified speed.

    looks like I can change:

    agp clock control (default, manual)
    agp clock value (66-120)
    agp voltage adjust

    thats all I can find

AGP Clock Value should be set to 66MHz to keep problems to a minimum. Many video boards get testy when you run them too far out of spec.

OK, I must admit, I dont know what my agp settings have to do with this....they are already set at default

My cpu shoud be running at 1.47GHz, but is only running at 1.10GHz, maybe someone can clear this up for me?

the jumper on the mobo that lets me select 133 MHZ fsb or 100 MHz fsb is whats givin me the problems

it wont let me set it to 133, because when I do, I get no video

Is ya memory frequency set to auto or by SPD? If its set to SPD then change it to auto and then try settin' the FSB back to 133MHz. BTW is that XP1700 a palamino core (CPU details on the core face) or a Thoroughbred (CPU details on a sticker set off to the side of the core)? :?:

OK, thanks for the advice, I finally got it running at its normal speed.

I dont know which core it has (dont feel like takin the heatsink off) but Im pretty sure its the version with the locked multiplier.

Another question, I could overclock this chip on my old msi mobo, but now I cant seem to figure out how to up it's speed. Any suggestions?

(if i change the fsb in bios to anything but 133 i get no video)
