Thread: Games Freezing Up (crashing?)

I'm not sure if this issue has anything to do with video cards buy I'm hoping someone else has had this problem thus knowing a solution. I recently installed everything fresh into my computer, with that I have Quake III and a mod Urban Terror. I also have Unreal Tournament Demo 2004 on here too. My problem is that all these games freeze up after a few minutes playing. Unreal Tournament goes to the desktop with some sort of general write error. While Quake III and Urban Terror freeze (i have to restart)or it has one of those errors you can send to Microsoft to report.
Again i don't know if this has anything to do with my video card, maybe it doesn't, but i hope someone can help me. I bought this computer to game, and haven't been able to yet.

I've tried all the new drivers to the video card & to the motherboard so please no one tell me that unless you know something.

What temps do you have in your system?
    PSU Wattage?

    Also go to:

Start - Settings - Control Panel - Administrative Tools - Event Viewer

To check what errors your OS might have reported there.

I think those temps are a bit high, you might wanna look into some better cooling/airflow. However, Ive noticed i get those kind of affects on Knights of the Old Republic when i have my graphics card OC'd to high. That PSU is probably fine as long as you dont have too many drives or lights. Good luck!

edit: oh wait, are those temps when the CPU is idle or under load?

Is that a barton 2600? Those are known to need more cooling than the stock cooler can supply, especially with the peanut butter tim from the factory. Are you using a proper tim like as ceramique, as3 or as5? You should also check the gfx card for proper tim as well. How updated is your os? Are you running sp1?
