Default installed a water cooling system, now cant play games

    Hey guys,

I finally broke down and got a water cooling system. Unfortunately the graphics card waterblock didnt fit right so i had to actually mount the old heatsink on the back of the card to use the screws to keep it on. To make a long story short, my computer will run but if i try to run 3dmark03 in the middle of the tests the monitor will go blank. Any advice is definately appreciated.

I dont think its overheating, as it is dramatically colder than before, im thinking maybe it has something to do with the old cooler not being plugged into the card. I feel that when it gets hotter it tries to initiate the fan but its not plugged in, so it screws up... does this make sense?

EDIT: Ok it turns out i was right... which i guess is good because atleast my card aint broke. However, the fan i hooked up to it is really quite loud (i think that it is being run at a higher speed due to being plugged into the card). Does anyone know of anyway around this? Perhaps a way to edit the cards bios, or maybe some kind of plug i can put into the fan output so i wont have to hook up a fan?

Sneaky solution: Use the 12v from the card to power a nb cooler. You may have to extend the wires and/or adapt the plug to work.

i havent been able to find a 2 pin nb cooler, however i was thinking maybe i could use a 2pin to 3 pin adapter and power the fan i have cooling my radiator and therefore have no added fans. Is there any problems with doing that?
