Default Machine hard locking, RAID controller suspect

I have been battling (for a number of months) an issue with my primary desktop machine. The problem is, whenever I use a RAID controller with an Intel IOP and 3 Intel X25-M 80GB SSD - The machine hard locks after an indeterminable length of time.

I have tried 3 RAID controllers on this mainboard with the SSDs: Highpoint 3510, 3ware 9650SE and an Adaptec 5405 (most recently). All but the 3ware 9650SE cause the machine to lock up occasionally. I'd use the 3ware 9650SE, but the performance is slower than that of a regular 7200RPM drive.

    I am not sure if it's a:

    - A heat issue,
    - A general incompatibility with the Intel X25-M's,
    - Not enough power for all my components.

    I have:

    - Stress tested the machine with cpuburn, Prime95, Linpack64 and memtest86 (the machine has not crashed doing so),
    - Downclocked the memory to 1066 and loosened the timings,
    - Removed extra components from the machine (ATI Theatre Pro, etc.)

None of this has stopped the machine from locking up eventually.

My computer specifications are as follows:

    Mainboard: ASUS M4A79T Deluxe
    Processor: AMD Phenom II X4 955 3.2Ghz
    Memory: 4x 2GB OCZ DDR3-1600 7-7-7-24
    Hard Drive: 3x Intel X25-M SSD (RAID1E)
    RAID Controller: Adaptec SAS-5405 PCI-E
Sound Card: ASUS Xonar DX 7.1 PCI-E
Video Card: ATI Radeon 4850 HD PCI-E (Gigabyte Silent)
TV Capture: ATI Theatre Pro 650 PCI
    DVD: LG GSA-H62N
    Power Supply: Corsair HX520W

I have 5 case fans in the machine, you can a relatively recent photo of my configuration here. The only thing missing from the photo is my sound card.

I am currently running Windows Vista X64 SP2, but I have also experienced the random locks up Windows XP X64 SP2 as well. No relevant errors in the event viewer.

Any tips, insight, hints, help would be greatly appreciated. :)

It is so long since I have played with anything AMD that I am completely out of the loop, but just as something to try have you disabled the onboard RAID controller to see if it is causing some sort of conflict? Just thinking out loud here.

Onboard RAID and sound are both disabled.
