How do you install the driver, do you double click the .exe ? No I haven't been able to install Spybot or update Adaware.

Yes, double click the exe and choose next a time or two in the installer box, then wait until it is done and then reboot.

That's what I thought so it's not me. I did it & when I rebooted it stopped booting just before the 'start' music, so I couldn't get help & support so couldn't 'system restore' so I had to do another clean install, this time in Photoshop, 'Bridge' won't load, I put the drivers on for my DViCO TV card, it told me the drivers had failed to install but the TV card works but no remote control icon in the system tray, I haven't seen if it actually works cos I don't use it. I can no longer load Adobe Reader 9.. but could load 7.. When I tried to load SP2 a little box said "Windows XP-KB835935-SP2-ENU.exe is not a valid Win32 application"?
PS Later-I did ChkDsk & remote icon reappeared.

Have you tested this disk with the manufacturer diagnostics tools yet? If not please do, sounds like it may be a faulty disk.

Or have you tried installing on your other disks and they all present this behavior?

I don't know what the diagnostic tools are? but am intending to replace this disk. No I haven't tried installing on another disk, I'd have to move files around & partition a disk. I'm sort of leaving it alone now cos everthying I try makes it worse, I can still do things on it, though not as much as before.

OK, which disk is giving you issues, please tell me the manufacturer and model. Then I will get you a link to the diagnostic tools you need.

On reading about this it looks a bit scary, I don't think I'll try anything else, it might make it worse, like the last thing I tried. I'll wait till something happens, thanks.

What was scary? The tool is fine and very safe to use!

You may have heard someone using it on a disk full of data they needed, and using it wrong, that could make them loose data. But since you are having issues and doing multiple installs trying to correct things you shouldn't have anything important on there you could loose.

And if you follow the directions on how to test it wont mess anything up anyway.
