Default Got a problem with my network...

Hi! I'm new to this forum and I wonder if you can help me.

I've connected 2 PCs through LAN. I'm currently using my cable modem with a USB connection. I wanted to connect my cable modem on a Ethernet PCI Card but then my onboard Ethernet card, which I use as a connection for the 2 PCs, stopped working propely.

I use a "D-Link DFE-538TX Rev.E1" on my primary PC and a "D-Link DFE-530TX Rev.A" on my secondary PC. Also, I use the "VIA Rhine II" ethernet adapter on my primary PC. I wished to connect my modem on the "DFE-538TX" and link my PCs with the two other cards. I tried to configure it but Windows says that my onboard ethernet adapter has limited or no connectivity.

    Can someone help me please?

    Thanks.

I had to put a SMC card in my ex girlfriends computer to make it work, as the onboard RJ-45 jack or the network controler for it was fied.

Did this configuration ever work, and well at that?

I might recomend borrowing a network card off of a friend or replacing them altogether. But if you dont want to go that route then try useing the pci card to conect to the inter net and then "try" to use the onboard lan for the connection to your other computer. I have seen this before, but every situation is usualy diffrent as I have learnt.

Did you ever have the modem running on the Ethernet card or did you originally set it up as USB?
If you'd never set it up on the card and installed everything at first as USB, then you probably need to remove the USB drivers it was using. In other words, the computer may be looking for the USB internet connection instead of the 10/100 card. Hope this makes sense
