    Default lan prob.

I just got my new computer.. after being without one for a long while, and it ran fine first week or so, but after I got my new case, and transfered everything over, the onboard Marvel Yukon Gigabit lan stopped working. It does get detected in decive manager and such, but whenever I have anything plugged into it, it detects nothing, no lights light up either. I tried new drivers, uninstalling it, resetting BIOS defaults, reformat, everything... which leads me to belive there might be something physically wrong with it.

If it doesn't run at all in Windows and reinstalling drivers doesn't help, you could try running a CD Linux distro such as Knoppix just to see if it works in there, but I doubt it works at all if it's not lighting up or anything. There's a decent chance it's just dead.

Check everything else, like your ISP connection, modem, router, and wiring before you assume its your onboard ethernet device on your motherboard. It's extremely rare to see a device such as that go out in that manner and have Windows still tells you it's working properly. I've seen cable modems do strange things that made me think it was an ethernet card before.

Well I changed nothing. I spent like 20 mins getting stuff in new case, then i used same cat5 cable as the old case. Either the device itself is dead, or I wired something.. wrong and it isnt working for some reason:S?

Some switchs/routers have the first port configured so that you have to use a crosover cable, get one or plug you cable into another port, try another cable aswell...
