Thread: Portforwarding not working

    Default Portforwarding not working

I have a westell versalink 327w modem/router. zone alarm is annoying the crap out of me so I want to make use of the router's firewall. The problem is portforwarding isn't working. When I set the firewall to medium everything except opera stops working as it's supposed to. But I still want to play online and use messangers, which don't work. So I go into configuration, services, and when I select a service and enable it (such as msn messanger) it still doesnt work. I saved the profile, and it doesn't work. I tried creating a new profile but it still doesn't work. Also, for some reason updating doesn't work. I go to update device, click on check for web update, and I get a message saying update check was unsuccesful BTW, there are 2 comps on the network, one connected by a usb adapter. Sometimes when I go to status, lan devices I see more than the 2 computers. Does this mean someone hacked in?

Well in case any of you ultra helpful people care, I managed to get it working. Turns out I should have had it as client, not host.

Why are you using a software firewall? Your router as a hardware firewall is adequate
