    Default Network Msn problem

Randomly a couple of days ago, my msn disconnected. Since then, i have been unable to sign in. I am on a home wireless network, and none of my housemates can connect either!
I get the 800072efd error, for which none of the suggested fixes work.
My xp sp2 firewall has been turned on and off to see if it made any difference, and it didnt. I have rebooted the router, checked that no sites were blocked, changed the MTU just in case, but its fine.
There are also a number of websites that none of us can access, including hotmail, and the msn service status pages. However, other secure sites are not a problem.
I am totally baffled by this and wonder if anyone has any clue whats going on ;)

Oh yeah, and also, windows messenger doesnt work, it says (on all our machines) that the password or username is wrong/doesnt exist, which is evidently not the case.
