    :hammer:

    Argh!

I have an Aztech MDP3858V-E modem and am trying to use it in XP. According to Aztech, generic drivers must be used in XP.

The problem lies when I boot up my PC, the modem opens my phone line and leaves it open! - A bit like taking the phone off the hook.

    Can anyone help please?

You are probably going to have to figure out what program is trying to call out. It may even be Windows trying to phone home. You may find it in task manager or you may have to check event logs to figure it out. Once you know what it is, it will be easier to fix.

I don't know but I think I'll leave the dailup modem connected somehow as it seems far more practical for me.
