    I remember testing most of the free dialup providers which were all the go a couple years ago. The service was ok but if you like ads take over your screen all day long - sure, go for it!

    I was with go.com.au for about a week
    It wasn't too bad
    But like Mr.Tweak said that add up the top was too big and I started forking out for internet :)

    there was a free dial up ISP here in NYC called metconnect which had no ads and no software to install..

    still exists too: http://www.metconnect.com/

    I was once using free services such as netzero and freei. Until freei got bought out for netzero and then netzero started charging. Of course this was more then 2 years ago when we got DSL in the house.

    get laptop with wireless card and external antenna, then drive around with Netstumbler looking for open access points. thats free broadband..
