I've got a problem and can't track down a solution. Need some help from my friends here.

I am having trouble ftp'ing to one particular site. I can connect and move files without incident to any place I want except one. My program(cuteftp pro) connects to the server, the socket connects and then just sits there. No errors, no bad password... and last week it worked fine.

I've made no changes to my sytem.

I thought it was a problem with the server, but a friend of mine can connect just fine.

I can ping and tracert the server just fine, web pages load just fine. It's just that my ftp won't connect.

I'm thinking it's something at my ISP but how would I track it down?

and you didn't do anything naughty right?
sometimes a few admins want people to follow some rules on their FTP servers. if you don't follow the norms they might block you.
or there could be come other explanation too...:?:

    LOL, no I wasn't naughty.

I've had access to this site for over 10 yrs now without a problem.

My ISP is trying to reset my IP address to something different, but it seems my router is partial to the number it already has and won't reset. How odd....and here I thought I didn't have a static IP address cause it costs too much!

Will post here if I am able to get it changed.

OK IP address changed and I can now access the ftp site I needed.

That was certainly a wierd thing though!
