    Question Kingston HyperX 1066 Problem

    hi kingston,

i just bought a KHX8500D2K2/4G (2x2) set and as it advertised it should work at 1066 but its currently working as PC2-6400 5-5-5-18 / 1.8V.

according to the product sheet on kingston site my rams should've been able to run at 5-5-5-15 / 2.2V

now what i'm wondering is should i use the 2.2V as told with my rams or should i stay with something like 2.1 and raise +0.300V ? or can i safely add +0.400V to make it 2.2.

and by the way if i just raise the voltage should i still edit the values as 5-5-5-15 or does my Gigabyte x48 DQ6 does itself ?

    thanks_

Unless you manually set it to run at 1066MHz in the bios it will default to the JEDEC standard the SPD is programmed to which in this case is

I have the 1GB modules of this memory, it runs quite well undervolted but if you do not wish to "muck around" with voltages/timings then just set it to 2.2v and 5-5-5-15 in the bios.

    Cheers.

The SPD of KHX8500D2K2/4G is programmed to JEDEC standard of DDR2 800MHz (PC2-6400). When you install this memory in your Gigabyte motherboard GA-X48-DQ6 without BIOS adjustment, the BIOS will automatically detect the SPD and run at 800MHz only. If you expect to run at 1066MHz, you need to manually adjust BIOS setting to Timing of 5-5-5-15, DRAM Voltage at 2.2V (select "+0.400V" to reach 2.2V), and/or Frequency at 1066MHz.

I have the same problem, but I set all the timings, voltajes and frequency, and I crash the pc when I restart.
There are also other timings besides the four mentioned in the specification.
I would like to know what to put in those timings.
Do I have to change the fsb frecuency?
    I have an Asus M3A78 emh-hdmi.

    Hi nestorpan,

Please update your BIOS to the latest version. And post the BIOS pictures of the pages and items that you have adjusted, so that we will know what we can advise. Also, are you installing the kit of P/N "KHX8500D2K2/4G"?
    Look forward to your reply.

hey guys someone please help me... i have a gigabyte ga ep45 ds3r mobo with f10g bios that supports upto 1200Mhz ddr2 ram. i am currently using a kingston hyperx ddr2 1066 Mhz ram (4x1GB) designed to run at 2.2v and 5-5-5-15. my bios shows me that its running at 800Mhz and 5-5-5-18 according to JEDEC stds. no matter what i do i just cant get to boot the system at 1066Mhz. i tried applying 2.2v manually to the ram and also upped the mch voltage to 1.3v and also upped trfc to 62. but still the mobo just refuses to boot up if i set the ram to 1066 settings in the bios (400x2.66). However, if i set the ram to 1000Mhz(400x2.5), my system boots but memtest gives me errors within 10 seconds. please help guys. i know its a long post. btw my cpu is a quad 9550 cuurently running at 3.4 Ghz(400x8.5). I even tried running the cpu at 2.83Ghz(333x8.5)[default] and then tried running the memory at 1066Mhz. still no luck. Pls help guys.

    Hi everyone,

    I have a problem........

My uncle bought it from overclockers.co.uk on last friday, and it is arrived today.... 1 stick works perfectly and looks really fast.... but.... the another one are not working... with the two sticks, nothing boots up, when I add my old 1GB stick, the system seems starting, but the bios screen seems corrupted and xp crashes at the end of the boot.... now I am using 1 of these sticks(the working one) and my old one... I think it can be a manufacturer problem... I don't know... I am so greatful if someone can help me... otherwise I'll change it...

(PS: sorry for my bad english....)

Ya, sounds like you will need to RMA the set if you tested them both seperately and one is bad
