    Default issue

    Hi Everybody

New to forums here so if this has been posted already sorry

I have just bought 2 sets of these

    Kingston KHX8500D2BK2/2G Hyper X Limited Edition / 2GB / 1066MHz / DDR2 / Dual Channel Kit from Play .com

Only problem is cant get them to be seen as 1066 only 6400.

I have a gigabyte P35 DS3L Mobo and have altered voltage by +.4 v to bring it upto 2.2v which if i understand is optimum for this memory

Even CPU-Z shows them as 6400

I have manually alter them in bios to 1066 but my system seems unstable orthos and P95 stop after about 1 minute showing errors

I have put the memory in bios back to auto showing them at 6400 and this seems more stable.

Running up windows 7 and moving XP stuff over at the moment

    Am i missing something here

    All help greatfully recieved

    Thanks

    DG

There is no performance difference between DDR2 800 and DDR2 1066
You should be happy for what your board can handle

Surely there must be a difference and my Mobo will take these.

I am trying to look into overclocking my core 2 E8400 which is why I got these but they do not seem stable which is what i need answers on

    Many thanks

Is your processor stable on your OC?

You have to be careful overclocking. Some times, your increase in CPU FSB can reduce RAM FSB. You should start over with default settings. Get everything running at 1066 and then proceed if everything is stable.

Thats my problem cant get it to 1066 unless i do it manually

I am thinking of sending it back but I only paid 57 quid for 4 gig so I suppose even if it only runs at 800 not 1066 it is not bad price the way prices are rising.

Just annoying that you buy something with stated speed and you cant get that.

Thanks for the comments keep them coming and in meantime I will keep fiddling.

By the way I am running my 8400 at standard speed and the memory at 800 with 2.2v going in.

Do you think there may be issue with all 4 slots on my board being used?

I would try with two sticks of RAM to see if your issue with all four sticks causing reduction in FSB. This is common on many boards.
