    a) download Red Hat 9.0 (3 CD's)
    b) read the documentation that comes with it
    c) If you've already got XP installed, when you install Red Hat it will put them both on a menu when you boot, so you can choose.

I suggest backing up anything important before you do it though. Plus, if you don't know how to install Windows, then forget about Linux altogether.

Why dont you get the KNOPPIX, its linux based and can be run on a 700MB CD with softwares included for Linux. It gives you full control on your HDD as if it was installed on it. It also automatically detects your connection to the internet etc... etc...
