I think I would try Mandrake first. Thats what I used to first learn Linux and the experience was a good one.

I suggest trying out Gnoppix first, you can put it on one bootable CD and play with it, it uses the Gnome GUI, good starting point

    Can be found at http://www.gnoppix.org

Once you've played around with it and decide to install a version on a computer, then try Fedora, Core 1

    Can be found at http://fedora.redhat.com/

    Neat stuff, lotsa luck!
    AMD XP 2600+
    SOYO Dragon 400
    1 gig 3200 DDR
    Phillips CD/RW
    Pioneer DVD -/+ RW
2-60 gig HD in RAID, 1 60 gig backup
    XP Pro

    I'll second that :thumb:

There are several good bootable linux distros to 'play' with if you want, although i would recommend Knoppix over gnoppix. I think most people find KDE more pleasurable than Gnome, i know i do. :)
I've gone too far and need to move on!

I would recommend trying SuSe as well. Its a bit more user friendly I have found so its good for beginners.
