    are there any books that are good for learning linux? just some so i can quick reference when i'm toying around or find a few tweaks.
    rig changes too much

    the books are all there in your system itself.
    type "man" (without quotes), followed by a command that you want to know about.
    you will have everything you want to know about it.
    then you have www.google.com/linux
    google specifically dedicated for linux. there are millions of pages dedicated to Linux but if you still want a "book" then may be someone else will tell you about one ;)
