there are linux drivers available for both ati and nvidia and can be found (along with installation guides) at the official driver pages of both companies
I've gone too far and need to move on!

While both Nvidia and ATI have linux drivers out, the nvidia drivers seem to be better supported, although i believe ATI's are improving much as their Windows drivers have in the past year

yes they seem to be supported but in case of ATi only for XFree86 server >= v4.1
so you have to see the thing there. if you are working on an older distro you will need to upgrade your X Server.
also nvidia has been known to support Linux and FreeBSD more than ATi does but then things are changing really fast ;)

my simular post on other sit seems to point out that Nvidia is a bit more aggessive on thier driver support for linux and win64...
However; my friends at ubi still tellng me to go 9800 pro or xt. hope to make up my mind monday and point out that ati is saying [and so far doing monthly driver updates]

It's nice to actually have 2 good company's to decide between...since they seem to be driving each other for our benifits..
