    Im new to linux, maybe i want to go too fast but i want to optimize linux, is compiling the kernel hard to do? And is there a linux optimisation guide like the ones made for WinXP by PersianImmortal?

    Compiling you own kernel isn't very hard, you just need to know what hardware you have in your comp (this means chipsets!). Just go thru it all slowly, google around for kernel compilation guides

    wtf is up with people and polls? did ya'll not realize you could with the old system or someting? :confused:

    anyway, yes compiling the kernel would be the best place to start speeding up the system, getting some good drivers would help as well...
    I've gone too far and need to move on!

    ok, i know exactely what parts are in my comp, ill google to get a guide on how to recompile the kernel!
    And for the person that said he didn't want to answer this poll... he just did! :wink:
