I have 2 problems to get over before starting to like linux:
-I have no sound, i have SBlive ans an AC 97 onboard, i am plugged into my sblive (using it in winXP) but i dont hear anything, how can i tell linux to use only my SBlive for sound?
-I have a AOpen 0-35G mouse with 4 buttons and 2 scroll wheels, how can i make it to work, now i can only use 1 wheel and the 2 std buttons. BTW AOpen doesn't make the driver.

Im using Édulinux, based on Mandrake 9.1.

    THX for your help!

Try to disable the AC'97 from the BIOS. Not sure if theres an option but its worth a shot.

As for the mouse, you just need the correct drivers. If they dont exist, then your stuck with what you got.

AC 97 is already disabled, but it is detected in linux(?). And for the mouse does another driver like a microsoft one could be used? Just to get the 2 side buttons working?

Go into your BIOS and disable the onboard sound.
