    i am trying to help a friend fix his laptop and he needs more ram, hes trying to get 256mb of ram in it but i dont know what type of ram you would use for laptops or where to get it (in canada) so if anyone could help me out that would be awesome, thanks a lot.

    ps:its a toshiba laptop if that matters: peace:

    ITs called a SO-DIMM, but i cant tell you if that one needs DDR ar SDRAM.

    notebooks can be very picky, not to mention proprietary, about which memory it can use. Best thing to do is look up your make and model and see what is recomended
    I've gone too far and need to move on!

    and if you can't figure it out there, try the web site of your manufacturer
    I've gone too far and need to move on!

    DO you know where on the laptop the ram goes?

    Do you have the model # of the laptop?

    you could try http://www.crucial.com/
    use the checker to find out what memory you need
