    Red face Ram upgrade help

    Ok so im looking to upgrade my ram fast, by like this weekend, i see theres some good deals going on, but i am not sure what i need to get and if it will work with my pc. I have 2 sticks of 256 and 2 sticks of 512 in my pc now, all toghter i have 1.50Gb. i want to have 3Gb so im looking to buy two sticks of 1G and replace the 256s with the 1Gs, so my question is what info do i need to make sure my pc will take the new sticks? If anyone can help let me know ASAP let me know what u need to know bout my pc.

    Read your mainboard manual for memory support or tell us the make and model of it.

    Well my book says that my mainboard is a ASUS P4C800-E Deluxe Motherboard.

    does that help?

    I presume you have dual channel running in your present configuration? If this is so just replace the two smaller sticks with the 1gb ones (ensure they are identical get dual channel), you'll be good to go, the board supports up to 4gb, what bios are you running?

    To be honest I dont think you'll see any gain over 2gb unless you are working with graphics intensive modelling programmes, with 2gb I have yet to use it all on any task/game

    Info on ram: DDR400, brands come into it if you wish to oc, search for related threads like "what ram to buy" etc

    Well im doing some video editing and some graphics and such, but i will check it out and post what i find to make sure its what i need.

    Whats the cpu on the board?

    Intel Pentium 4 3.0GHZ 512K L2 Cache 800MHZ FSB, also with the bios i am not sure on that, every time i start my pc it says bios not configured any help there?
