Default I know this question probably gets asked alot...

So please dont tell me im a retard for asking it again (i already know that! lol).

I have 2 x 2GB Kingston DDR2 1066MHz 5-5-5-15 RAM OC'd to 1205MHz. I know that I have to tweak the voltages and timings for the 2GB DIMMs. So I have the MCH voltage at 1.42V and the DRAM voltage at 2.25V. I've got the timings pushed a bit higher as well and the Command Rate at 2. My rig works just fine except... every single program I have (that tells you the amount of RAM you have) tells me I have only 2GB installed (Sandra XI, SuperPi 1.5, WinFTP, etc.) except Everest Ultimate which tells me I have about 2.9GB of total physical memory.

So my (obvious) question is... Is this just some kind of strange error or do I have to change some other settings to get this to work properly?

oh yeah! the DIMMs are across both the A and B channels... Is there something I have to do to get both channels operating at the same time?

EDIT: oh yeah (again) i've put down the memory clock to just 1004MHz (2 x 502) just to see if that's the problem, but it seems to be working the same as before

EDIT2: Memory still checks out using MemTest86+ and at the POST the BIOS tells me the 419somethingsomethingK OK, so im leaning towards another stupid software issue... god i hate software!

    32bit operating system?

x86 operating systems can not address more than 4GB of memory, so you will only see the amount of physical memory that is free after things like the video card memory etc are deducted from the 4GB

Most people will see 3.25 to 3.5GB depeding on what other hardware is using memory bandwidth

Why some software is only showing 2GB is a bit of a mystery.

Do you have the memory in the correct slots for dual channel?

    EDIT:

Is the software that is showing 2GB the latest versions? It may be incorrectly reading your board if it is an older version

ok thanks for that man... i just restarted my box and Everest is now showing 3.4GB, so that seems about in line with what you said... id think Sandra should give me the right reading (apparently not), but SuperPi is ancient and id question the accuracy of the others...

seems like there's not a problem after all... thanks for the help!
