Thread: Memory timings

    Default Memory timings

Hey. I'm new to this forums, but not the internet. I always did a lot of reading and something puzzles me.

[Please no laughter if the question is a nub one =( ]

Everyone posts about timings, 4-4-4-12, 5-5-5-15, etc. How come I don't ever see anyone with 3-3-3-10? Am I the only one? Is something wrong with my RAM? I know tighter is better but I'm beginning to wonder, lol.

Is it because my RAM is older? But that does not make any sense to me. Newer should be better (tighter). Shouldn't it?

Is something wrong with 3-3-3-10 @ 2T? Heck, I was even thinking about pushing it to 3-3-3-10@ 1T.

Someone, please explain. I feel like my timings are.. well.. weird.. T_T

It is because of your ram speed of 667Mhz. All of use could run 333-10, 1T even, or less at 667Mhz as well

800Mhz or above is what most people use and this almost always needs CAS4 to be stable, so not not a silly question. As you likely know, the only silly question is the one you do not ask

    Thank you, I understand now.

Yep, faster ram needs more room to transfer data so the timings have to be a bit looser is all.
