Question GA-MA790X-DS4 wont run 1066 DDR2 ONLY 800DDR2

My friend and I built a PC with New & Used Parts
with WIN 7 64bit OS
Everything runs fine apart from the DDR2 RAM whic wont run at 1066(but will boot up fine at X4 = 800)...........

CPU: AMD x2 7750BE(Used But works fine)

Moboard: *GA-MA790X-DS4 – rev. 1.x (Used But works fine)
*Manual –

Site
http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Products/Motherboard/Products_Overview.aspx?ProductID=2695

RAM: 4Gig Patriot Viper 1066 Brand New (5-5-5-15 @ 2.1v)
Website – http://www.patriotmem.com/products/detailp.jsp?prodline=5&catid=17&prodgroupid=7 5&id=710&type=1

Case & PSU: Antec 200 with Vantec ION2+ 600w Both New

GPU: Used GS 8400(Used BUT works fine)

So here is what we have done:-
In MT intelligent Tweaker(MIT) we tried changing the following ALL without Success Nothing else was changed:-
1. Set Memory clock to Manual to X5.33 = 1066 (Timings set to AUTO)
Wont reboot comes up with Error and wants to go into Repair Option

2. Set Memory clock to Manual to X5.33 = 1066
Pressed Ctrl / F1 to allow me to go into Dram confiuration to adjust the timings to the suggested 5-5-5-15

Wont Reboot... .even tried 6-6-6-18....just for the hell of it as this was what I had to do for my own PC using Team Extreem DDR2 1066 whis is the suggested timings for this Team RAM

Did NOT touch V BUT Checked Voltage in PC Health it was near enough correct at 2.096V – Suggested V is 2.1V
STILL Wont reboot comes up with Error and wants to go ino Repair Option

3. Updated BIOS from Version F4 to F9
STILL Wont reboot comes up with Error and wants to go into Repair Option

As soon as we simply reset the memory clock back to X4 = 800
No problems Reboots staright away

This Moboard is probably a couple of years old .....Just wondering as we are now running Win 7 64bit DO we neeed to update the Chipset/Raid ?

Haven'y tried it, Just dont wont to crash it....as it works fine at 800 JUST that we have Paid a premium for the 1066 and want it to run at 1066

*Their is a footnote stating that this board supports 1066 according to the type of CPU etc.....and the AMD x2 7750 is on the list
The Patriot viper is not on the Memory Vendor list BUT then again it wasn't on the market when this board was released

*Quote from GB site for this board
Memory
1. 4 x 1.8V DDR2 DIMM sockets supporting up to 16 GB of system memory (Note 1)
2. Dual channel memory architecture
3. Support for DDR2 1066(Note 2)/800/667 MHz memory modules
4. Support ECC Memory(Note 3)
Note (Note 1) Due to Windows® XP 32-bit operating system limitation, when more than 4 GB of physical memory is installed, the actual memory size displayed will be less than 4 GB.
(Note 2) Whether 1066 MHz memory speed is supported depends on the CPU being used.
(Note 3) Use of a CPU that supports ECC is required if you wish to install ECC memory.
(Note 4) When the CrossFireX™ technology is enabled, the PCIE_16_1 slot will operate in x8 mode. If you are installing a single PCI Express x16 graphics card, please install it in the PCIE_16_1 slot for optimum performance.
(Note 5) Available functions in Easytune may differ by motherboard model.

Other than what we have tried ...............HELP

You will need to raise your memory controller voltage (NB VID), possibly increase tRFC and set your ram voltage before this is going to work. You may also need to increase your NB Freqency as well.

If you continue to have issues, please PM Artdrivers and ask him if he can help you, he is our AMD expert here >>
