    Default Kingston KHX8500D2K2/4G PC2-8500 DDR2 1066MHz problem.

    Hi all,

I bought a kit of Kingston KHX8500D2K2/4G PC2-8500 memory a couple of weeks ago and trying it in 2 different boards I can only get it to run at PC2-6400.

    My system specs are:-

Motherboard: Asrock P43DE Bios version P1.70
CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q8400
    Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce 8400 GS
    Memory: Kingston KHX8500D2K2/4G PC2-8500

    Kingston give timings of 5-5-5-18 @ 1.8v = 800MHz & 5-5-5-15 @ 2.2v = 1066MHz

The Motherboard supports DDR2 1200/1066/800/667 and when I let the BIOS detect everything CPU-Z and System Info both report it as being PC2-6400 DDR2 (800Mhz)

If I set the timings in the BIOS manually for 1066MHz and set the DRAM Frequency to 533MHz, system summery in the BIOS reports it as being DDR 533MHz DDR2 1066MHz but CPU-Z & System Info still report it as PC2-6400 (DDR2 800MHz) and at these manual settings I get occasional BSOD normally when streaming video online, at default settings this does'nt happen.

I have run Memtest86 with no errors reported.

Has anyone managed to get this memory to work @ 1066MHz? Can anyone help me with this.
