Hi. Just ordered a7n8x deluxe mobo. Says video card agp8 (1.5 volt only).
    http://www.asus.com/prog/spec.asp?m=A7N8X%20Deluxe

Can't seem to be able to figure out if I can use an older video card from another computer in this board. I have other boards
2x & 2x/4x....voltage says in specs 2x 3.3 volts 4x 1.5 volts. One card is ati radeon 7000 64mb. Can I use an older card in this board? Asus site is clear as mud on some of the important stuff. Could I use an older video card 2x possibly, & just plug it into a regular pci slot (not the agp slot) & have it work? I'm afraid my searches on google & different forums have left me quite confused. Lots of references to burning up motherboard with 3.3 video cards. Thanks

I doubt that ya can use the 2x card as they're 3.3v but any 4x and up card is ok.

Thanks for the quick reply Wiggo. I've been trying to find something on this for close to 3 hours. Asus site doesn't say the board is 4x backward compatible. My interpertation of specs was agp8 only. As long as the card is 3.3 & OR 1.5 volt, should work OK?

Well I have the EPoX version and that's 4x/8x AGP so I can't see ASUS bein' any different. ;)

Thanks Wiggo. Just now found it in the Asus faqs. Will support any 1.5 card, but not 3.3 volt. I appreciate your time spent on this. As you can see, I wimped out & decided to go with the Asus a7n8x deluxe board for the new rig instead of the Epox 8rda:).

One more thing, please. Just so I know, can an older 3.3 video card work if plugged into one of the OTHER pci slots in the board & not in the AGP slot?

you can't plug an AGP card into a PCI slot...at least I'm pretty sure you can't

but a 4x card will be just fine in that mobo, seing as I that is what I use ;)
