    here is another good read briefly discussing what OpenSource is and what it isn't. It is basically one man's opinion, but it is an opinion I happen to agree with and I'm sure a few of you will too

    [b]Open source is software turned on its head. It is fashioned around the concept that those who use software should have considerable freedom to make that software fit their need. End users and IT departments need not “shut up and put up” with whatever the software supplier decides to give them. Consumers of software should be able to directly affect the course of development and be able to fix problems that are crucial to them. In short, with open source, the software consumer is in charge of his or her own fate.
