  • Radeon 9800 not working

    Hello all,
Kinda new here. I got a question.

I just got a Radeon 9800 from best buy recently (could'nt wait to have one shipped :p ) and i am no newbie when it comes to installing hardware. But when I installed it (connected the power cord and all) nothing shows on screen! The manual says that if the power supply is not properly connected the cpu will beep so it cant be that. The Mother board is the latest Asus A7V8X-X and I have a pretty good 350 watt psu. I dont think its the drivers because im upgrading from a 8500 (ati) and they use the same catylyst driver. Im wondering if it is no good and ill have to replace it?

If you guys have any insight on this please let me know.

PS: I would like to "soft over clock"the card to get it near the performance of a Pro and i've never done any overclocking before.

    Thanx

It's likely ya got a dud but 430W is the minimum PSU I'd use with that type of setup.

Yep, turns out it was a dud.

I'm also planning on upgrading my athlon t-bird 1.4 GHz to a XP 2700 this week so i'm taking your advice and upgrading to a 420 psu.

      Thanx

A 350W psu of a good brand should not have problems running your comp.. :devil win
