Upgrading Problems

I upgraded my old computer that uses Athlon processor. The only thing i wanted to change are following - Motherboard (co'z i think the old MSI MOBO is ****ed up) the old 32MB RIVA TNT 2 Graphics Card, and a "****ty Small" CPU Cooler.
Because of a quite tight budget i bought an "AS ROCK" Motherboard as it support DDR/SDRAM, AMD Athlon/Duron/XP Processor and Support 8x AGP Graphics Card, a new 64 MB NVIDIA GEFORCE4 8x Graphics Card and a Thermaltake Volcano 9 Coolmod Cooler.
But when i setup everything, the PC just start for 10 to 12 seconds then shutsdown itself.
What do guys think might have caused the trouble? Help is always appreciated thank you very much in advance!

The original Specs of the PC are the following.

Mainboard MS-6340 KT133 (which you can't upgrade the bios as you can't find the MOBO MS-6340 on the MSI's List)

PSU Hipro HP-235ATXAK PSU (which i can't figure out what is tha wattage)

I strongly suggest if you are in UK, never ever buy a PC from ****! TINY COMPUTERS LTD as they uses cheap computer parts and they don't provide complete specs of the system they are selling.

Get a bigger PSU, judging my its model number its a 235W

So you think its because of my power supply? ok i'll try that as on wednesday my bro will buy Athlon XP processor 2600 and atleast 256 of DDR Ram so I will tell him to buy also another power supplies. thanks

Make sure the cpu heat sink fan is connected to the mobo in the right place.

It is setup correctly from jumper settings etc... etc... but as i said, when i start the PC it only start 10 to 12 seconds then shutdown on its own.

and oh one more thing.... the last time i set the jumper settings for the CPU to 133MHz instead of 100MHz i noticed the CPU is kinda very very hot as well as the heatsink of the thermaltake Volcano 9 coolmod not just hot but very hot. Do you think the CPU is already burned?

ok people! i got my self a 350 Watts unbranded PSU, but when i start the PC, it starts but then slowly by slowly stops.

You think, this is still because of the PSU?

Does anything show up on your monitor? Are there any beeps or anything coming from the mobo speaker?

You said your CPU and HSF were extremely hot.....do you have another CPU that you can put in to test out to see if maybe you burnt the other one up?
You can burn a chip up, although setting the jumper to 133 shouldn't do it by itself.
Was you HSF spinning while you were booting up?

Yah, the POST shows up, but it takes quite a while because the power is slowing down. then it comes to the point that the PC stops. I mean not running at all. when I unplugged the cable for the PSU, and plug it again, then restart, same routine happens.

About the CPU, I think I burned the Athlon 1000MHz, thats why I bought the Athlon XP. When i power up the PC using the Athlon 1000MHz nothing happens, screen remains empty and no beep coming from the tiny speakers. But with the Athlon XP, I have display screen as I said the POST, but it only flashes, because of the power slowdown, then i heard a beep, but not loud.
I try powering up the PC without anything attached to it, except the Processor, RAM and Graphics Card and it works fine. I have screen etc... etc... but i havent come up to the point of going into bios.
What you think causes the trouble?

A new motherboard/CPU change is a really big jolt to your OS, did you reinstall Windows or format your hard drive then install Windows and your drivers?

Before I upgrade, I format the HDD so its completely empty. Thanks for the reply, but i figured it out me self. The PSU is faulty so its definitely the one causes the problem because I try using my other PSU from my Pentium PC, and it works great, in fact I already installed the Windows last night. :D. So i need to go the shop where I bought it from and Slap it to his face! just joking :laugh:
