  • Help! Internet exporor JAVA Problem

I had to format and reinstall Windows XP. Everything went fine until I tried to open IE to veiw a Java-scripted pop-up window that I use for work. The first time I tried to veiw it I was asked to d-load java for IE but I foolishly close the window and decided to update everything through Windows update. Now the Java window will not pop-up on this system for some strange reason.
Is there a setting I need to adjust in IE? or do I need to d-load something. It always seemed to work fine before just using Windows upadate but I never tried accessing the page before I updated like I did just now.

you need to download a java virtual machine.
you can get Sun's Java Runtime Environment [JRE] here: http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.1/download.html

or do some hunting for MSJAVX86.exe which is microsoft's JVM [but microsoft is no longer supporting it].

Thanks, that was what I needed. I've been using that for years and didn't even know it.:o

For some reason I can't use my TAB button to page down in the pop-up window (its useless to me this way) and now an icon comes up in system tray when I start the page. Maybe I just had the express version before and this version of Java has to be running in the background. Any ideas?

to get rid of the icon in the system tray you'll need to go to Control panel.. java plug in.. then uncheck the run in system tray/show icon in system tray. Also you can if you like uninmstall the java web start from add remove programs its pretty useless..

I'm not sure what will fix that TAB problem though..

            Thanks for the info.

I needed control of the TAB button back in Java virtual machine so I already reformatted:barf: . I found a way to map keys in the program but it was so Greek to me I figured that reformatting was a quicker solution since I wasn't too far into setting my system up from the last reformat. :o Now everything works like it should. :)
