  • RunAs Problem

I am running Windows XP, Home edition.

For the past few days, RunAs.exe has been running, prompting me every time I load a program.

I have the Secondary Logon service disabled, and whenever I edit the registry to include HideRunAsVerb=1, I encounter problems when trying to open applications.

I've been at this for days does anyone have any ideas as to how I could stop this?

could you tell us what you did that lead to this situation. that might be helpful in solving this problem.
also have you tried re-enabling "Secondary Logon" service, putting in start mode and then stopping it? i mean some how it seems as though this service has stuck in between. i can't say that it might be cos of credentials being saved as you are using Home edition.
having service running even when it is disabled is quite weird.

The problem is I don't know what caused it to start running.

However, I do have a few hunches on what caused it, but I'm not entirely sure.

I downloaded a program called TuneUp Utilities, and it started running soon after that.

I have tried turning Secondary Logon on and off several times. I tested it out on manual and automatic and then turned it off after a reboot, but it still continues to run.

Try uninstalling the program tuneup utilities and see if that fixes the problem...

TuneUp is uninstalled, and RunAs continues to run.

i am currently looking at their site and looks like this program has a "Administration" tab in the side. you should re-install and check that field out once again. this must be a messed up setting in the program itself. sorry i can't help you much there :-|
