What do you guys thiunk is the best processor out right now. It will be used mostly for gaming but many tohger things. Also whats the difference between AMD or Intel and why would I choose AMD over Intel or vice versa?

Either the Athlon 64 FX-53 or Opteron 250 (Opterons are intended for servers so just forget that). The Athlon 64 FX-53 is better in almost all games than any Intel processor. It is also better in many other applications. The Intel processors are better for certain things, such as video encoding.
In most cases, an AMD processor will be better for gaming than an Intel processor at the same price. -
Actually the FX53 is the same as an Opteron 150 minus the SMP pin (the Opteron 250 is meant for dual processing).Comment

Exactly... Just thought I would mention it since they're pretty much the same thing, but the FX-53 is the relevant one unless you want dual Opterons for a gaming computer for some reason.Comment
