  • GF FX5700LE 128mb Glitches

Hi all, long time since i've posted here but i'm having some difficulty working out of my girlfriend's new FX5700le card is broken, or if theres some sort of software issues...

Basically, it seems to run fine, thru 3dmark 2003 (1400 or 1600 3dmarks or something like that), and it runs Half Life (1) in openGL and d3d fine, BUT....

    try running:
    NFSU 2
    Race Driver
    Sims 2

and it has rapid glitches on the screen in the form of what looks to be random vertex movement - that is, triangles of random color (i believe from other objects on the screen) flashing across the screen....

I've tried a few different bios settings for the video card, the newest (and some older) forceware drivers, latest directX, etc etc - even the nvidia drivers that came with the card...

Not sure if it's D3D Hw T&L that's glitchy, what do NFSU2/RaceDriver/Sims2 use? HL1 only uses Direct3d Software T&L is that correct?

Anyway, specs on the machine if it will help at all,

Albatron KM18G micro-atx nforce2 mobo (agp 8x is supported, and i've tried this with 4x and no difference the problem persists)
2x256mb sticks of DDR pc3200 (running at 333)
    Athlon XP 1900+
    Western Digital WD450AA 45GB 5200rpm drive
Aopen Aeolus FX5700 LE 128mb (again, 8x AGP support)
no other addon cards, since the machine has onboard McEverything...
Acer 8ms 17" TFT (no dvi input tho)

Oh and it's not overheating either, this is from a cold boot, and starts immediately once in game but you can quit and run hl and its fine..

the 5700le has a dvi output and we're using the supplied dvi-vga adaptor.. this shouldn't be causing an intermitant problem like this however, should it?

        Re: GF FX5700LE 128mb Glitches

since i'm buying at cost, there was SFA difference

an XFX 128 was almost the same price as an ASL 256... (which was cheaper than the XFX 256 by $10)... and i'd have had to pay freight on the XFX cards because we don't buy from the supplier that sells them very often...
