  • CD-Rs won't play in car cd player

I don't know if this happens to many people, but I'm assuming it's a problem with anybody who owns a 2003 Jeep Wrangler. It's not actaully my car, I'm just letting my brother borrow my toyota for a road trip. I try to play my cds in it and it will only play cds from recording industries, no cdrs. Anyone know why? I've read a bunch of crap on "red book standard", I've used different burning software, and have tried different cds. Just wondering if someone knows of software that can burn a compatible cd, or cds that work in other players.

    Isn't DRM a wonderful thing?

Yes it could be DRM but how fast are you burning the CDs? If you haven't tried burning at a slow speed (think 8x or 16x) it might be worth a shot.

It could also be your burner as well as recording speed.

THat is nothing that 5 gallons of gas and a book of matches cannot fix.

Seriously, it doesn't surprise me that a factory junk radio doesn't like burned disks. SInce it is probably not premium sound, it just doesn't have what it takes to play burned disks. Just about any new aftermarket radio will play them so I think it is time to talk him into replacing that stock POS.

What file format are you burning in ?? CDA or MP3 ?? not all players will play mp3, especially older models.

This truly could be your anwser. I know for a fact that all Chrysler(Jeep/Dodge) systems cannot be trusted for more than a year. That Toyota you mentioned, what year and model? If older and possibly of a lower grade car's CD player could also have a problem with the CDs.
