  • Athlon 64 overclock

Just wondering what is a healthy overclock for a athlon 64 3400+ its running at 2.4ghz(factory) i have got a gigabyte super cool fan and heatsink, which i can turn the rpm up to 4500 for some overclocking. Any suggestions?

Depends on your other hardware, but Newcastles don't go that much higher than 2.4GHz. I'd say 2.6GHz is the most you could get reasonably, but that's without knowing your current temperatures or other hardware.

Keep it under 70C, ideally under 60C.

Keep it under 60c if you want it stable. Keep it under 70c if you don't want anything damage. It's pretty hard to get it much over 50c and stable, though. Athlon 64s run pretty cool, and it usually takes more voltage than they should get to get them above 50c.
