ATI is going to release the R580 sometime this month (hopefully). http://www.xbitlabs.com/news/video/d...226173157.html
Does anybody know of any other hardware they have up their collective sleeves?

They have a killer new chipset they are threatening to release this year that is supposed to revolutionize the way we overclock AMD64 CPUs. RDX480 is what it is called I believe, I will post you a link when I find it again.

Ok, I haven't been able to find much on their next chipset. Although it is supposed to be the RDX480 like you mentioned. It's going to support socket AM2 with DDR2 (upgrade again..*sigh*). I like my system the way it is. At least top of the line 939's will get cheaper. A toledo will be like $10 next summer.

One thing that may hold that chipset up is ATI's inability to get their SB600 southbridge going and I'd doubt that many mainboard manufacturer's will be keen to use the less than impressive SB450 southbridge with it (enter nVIDIA with their ULi southbridge again?).

Hmm. Good point. Although ATI is also pairing with the ULi southbridge as I've seen lately. I know I've read enough bad things about any chipset, but I personally use the SB450 and the issues are far and thin. Granted the overclocking features are pretty much non-existent, there seem to be much fewer bugs than the nforce 6150/430, which is fine for me because I don't benchmark. My last board with the 6150 had some real problems. I'm hoping ATI makes a comback just for sheer competition, and hopefully their X1900 is going to be all that it's hyped up to be. For the time though I'm more than happy with my Xpress200 chipset and my 7800GT. Although it's a squeeze in that little case :-/

I doubt if you will see this again. nVidia bought ULi and I kinda doubt that they will be supplying Southbridge chipsets to their competitors.
