I have $2000 to spend on a new PC. Which company should I go with?

that was a dumb question to ask dont go with any them you can make a great computer for 2000 way better than if bought a computer from them that cost 2000. go to www.newegg.com for 2000 the computer would kick ass go AMD cheaper but very high grade processors. go with the x1800xt or the 7800 gtx 512 for you graphics card. Iam just saying before i know how to beuild a computer i bought one for 2000 2 years ago from HP before i know how to build computers. yah it was a good pc but i looked on the internet and for for the same 2000 i spent on that Hp i could have built a way better computer. I would have to agree that any of those 3 companies are a poor choice for a place to get a computer. Why don't you build your own?

I believe that I saw some good deals at a place caled Cyber Power PC. They seem only to charge (Based On Newegg Prices) 10% (cheap in terms of pre-built computers) on labor, also they have a nice selection of parts.

DO not buy a branded PC. Either assemble one yourself, or get one built. It is not that difficult to assemble a PC. If you know how to add video cards and such, you should be OK to assemble a PC. Name brand PC's charge a premium for their name. Look for a small computer shop near you. Skip the big names and go to a privately owned shop and I almost guarantee you can get a extremely fast PC build for $2000. Hell, I have less than that into mine.

Yeah, building your own is the way to go. The prebuilt companies don't put the best parts into their computers. For example: I have a Dell Dimension 2400 that I got as a Christmas gift. It came with a P4 at 2.5, 128 ram, 40gig hd, cd-rw, and floppy. That was about it. And it still costs $500! When I got into modifying my computer, I found it was almost impossible. No AGP / PCI-E, can't overclock, and more. This is pretty sad. I had to settle for a pci video card, which is a little better than onboard. They put very cheap parts into them. I'm not sure which I've spent more on: time or money? Dell's bios and mobo make it really hard to do any upgrading. I've spent weeks trying to get my sound card to work with the bios. It wants to install the onboard sound when you turn it on. Don't worry, I finally got it somewhat worked out.

When you build your own, you select the best parts and you build your ultimate computer. For 2k, you can build a monster!
I don't want to spend more time than I have to, but here are some things to look for in your computer:

2 gigs ram
AMD X2 4400
7800 GTX 512
550w psu - a good one
DFI mobo
