    Infinite reset cycle before Posting

    Just bought a GA EP45 DS3L
    2x 2GB sticks OCZ 1066
    550 Real Power Pro (coolermaster)
    HD 4850

    It *kinda* worked for awhile. Dual channel memory wouldn't work and no memory was recognized in the second bank (ddr2_3 and ddr2_4). Hence I had to do single channel (and yes both dimms were recognized in ddr2_1 and ddr2_2 so I don't think it was a memory issue).

    However, now even those don't work.

    When I power on the system, the fans and LED's light up for about a second and then promptly turn off. No Beeps.

    About 1 second after that it turns on again (I don't touch anything). This time it turns on with a single beep (good post?) and I can hear the HDD start to spin. This lasts for about 4 seconds before it shuts off again and repeats the whole process indefinitely. I don't get a video signal during this.

    The exact same thing happens if I take out all the memory.

    If I disconnect the 4pin to the CPU the computer remains on, but doesn't do anything. No beeps. Normally it should be beeping letting me know there is a CPU issue, right?

    I've reset the cmos multiple times. This hasn't changed anything.

    This is fresh from newegg so I'm strongly considering sending it back.

    Wait have you got 4 sticks of 1gb RAM or 2 sticks of 2gb ram?

    If 2x 2gb sticks:
    Make sure you put one in the first slot, then not the next, but the one after that.

    If 4x 1gb sticks:
    It should all work fine.

      Incompatible Ram sounds like to me, but ya you could have had a fried slot! If you RMA it all get a different brand of ram to be on the safe side

        I just bought the following and am having the exact same problem:

        Intel Q6600
        Gigabyte GA-EP45-DS3L
        2x2GB DDR2 1066MHz OCZ Platinum Ram
        Coolermaster 650W Extreme PSU
        Coolermaster CM-690 Chassis
        Leadtek Nvidia GTX260

        I've tried another PSU and got the same problem, Power comes on, nothing displays then it powers off after approx 5 secs, then after approx 3 secs it powers on again and repeats the process.

        I have also swapped the Video Card with the same result.

        If I remove the ATX-12V CPU power connector the power stays on but still no display.

        So far it doesn't matter what slots the Ram use or even if the Ram is installed at all.

        Xrosseyed, were you able to fix the issue or did you replace the Ram and /or motherboard?

          Have you tried with only one stick of ram in slot one? And what do you mean you unplugged the ATX 12V plug? That must be plugged in for the CPU to get power

            Thanks for your response. I tested with 1 stick only, still same problem. I did mean the ATX 12V Plug, I don't why I tried this, lack of sleep I guess.

            Anyway, I just took the parts back to the Computer dealer and did some more troubleshooting:

            Reseated CPU - same issue.
            Re-applied Heatsink paste - same issue.
            Tried lower voltage DDR2 800 Ram - now it works.
            Adjusted the RAM voltage to 2.2V as specified by the OCZ Ram - back to power cycling pre post.
            I tried a few more voltages and Firmware upgrade with no luck.
            Finally I tried a new Motherboard of the same model and it worked with the OCZ 1006 DDR2 Ram without changing any settings.

            Computer Dealer was happy to swap. This was my first bad Motherboard after many Asus and Gigabyte models but I guess it was bound to happen sooner or later.

              Ahh, well at least you found the issue I suppose. So you are all working fine now then?

                My PC has 4x 1 GB COrsair but it is still hangs or restarting randomly ???
