    I just got a new system <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p>

    e7200<o:p></o:p>
    GA-EP45-DS3R<o:p></o:p>
    2gb of Crucial Ballistix BL12864aa1065 (1066 555-12 2.2v)<o:p></o:p>

    Right now I have the system running at 333 FSB with 9.5 multi for 3.16 on the CPU and i am running the system memory multipler at 2.4b for 800mhz<o:p></o:p>

    <o:p></o:p>
    With these settings the system is rock solid and pretty cool (53 at max load in Prime 95) with everything on auto in the bios.<o:p></o:p>
    <o:p></o:p>

    When I try to push the system to 400 fsb that’s when everything starts to get sticky<o:p></o:p>
    <o:p></o:p>

    Prime95 will run sometimes with errors and sometimes without. I have run memtest on my ram with no errors. I have tried undeclocking the cpu with x6 muti and I still have errors in prime95 SOMETIMES. <o:p></o:p>
    <o:p></o:p>

    I'd love to get a stable 400 FSB so I could push my CPU a little bit more. I’d also love to run the ram @ the 1066 but even with the timings set and Voltage set to 2.2 (it’s purple in the bios yikes!) I’m still having the same problems.<o:p></o:p>


    I've also been reading a lot about the overall screwy-ness of the bios on this board and all the p45 advanced options.<o:p></o:p>

    What is your NB voltage set to? Set it to +.1v. You can also try +.2v.

      MCH voltage (along with all other voltages) is set to auto.

        Well, than add some MCH for sure.

        I am not so sure about GA-P45 yet, but GA-P35 and crucial did not play well together.

        I see you say MCH on AUTO, as well as the rest.... That is likely a major part of the issue. You are going to need to manually adjust your CPU voltage for sure, I'd suggest start high and then lower and test until it fails then raise back up again. 1.35 or so should be plenty high for only 400FSB

        Try this for 3.6 @ 400 FSB with ram at 1000 for now >>>>

          Im a little confused on these settings.

          is the 1st number the default and the second what i should change it to? or are these a suggested range to test. i placed everything @ the max value you provided thinking thats what you were trying to suggest. could this cause more heat?

          After using the settngs that you provided , the heat of my CPU jumped from 55c ish @ full load to 74c in prime 95. (monitored in real temp with tjmax of 95)

          I tried lowering the CPU voltage to 1.30 and now my temps are steady around 70c @full load in prime 95.

          i think this is too hot! maybe i should just go back to 3.16 ghz 333 fsb? :D

            They are suggested ranges, with the highest being loose which should work no problem and the lowest being what you would want to later tweak to if possible. When lowering them be sure you only lower one at a time and test after each move, if you lower more then that then when you get errors you wont know which caused it

            No, timings wont cause more heat only voltage changes. And If you used the CPU voltages I suggested (which are the ONLY ones that would affect CPU temps) then like I said it is a high range and you can likely lower with testing.

            If you want to keep a really high clock it sounds like you need a much better cooler. If you are using Intel stock one then for sure you do either way

                There's no such multiplier in this motherboard, so You couldn't have used this. You may choose between 2.66x400 (should do) and 2.40x400 (must do). I wouldn't care about advanced timings, just leave them in auto.
                Lsdmeasap is right wondering if the cooler is good enough or, perhaps it is not mounted properly.

                  I get 58c 100% load @ 3.8GHz, 1.3v with my E7200 and Xigmatek HDT-S1283. You should not need so much voltage for under 3.6GHz with an E7200, I don't think CPU voltage is the cause of your instability.

                    That or it is too much voltage causing instability. People often jump to adding more voltage to try to get things working...... Which it sometimes does.

                    And sometimes does even if it was not the issue, which then leads to way to much being used and gives the a user false sense of "That fixed it, by adding more volts"

                    I said 1.325-1.35 as a range to for sure work down from as I have not used or read much on this CPU. Sounds like from your post that he should be using 1.3 or less, likely less
